Denver's Premier Track Club

The South Denver Track Club provides high-level, proven training for the sprint, distance and field events for ages 12-18.
Our club has experienced coaches (all USATF trained and CPR certified) that teach advanced or basic track and field skills. After initial assessments, each student will be provided with a custom workout plan that focuses on their personal goals.
We are a competitive club sports team that competes at USTFA and AAU meets around the state, with an opportunity to go to regional and national meets.

Our goal is to mentor young athletes to improve their athletic ability while helping them develop a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Meet Your Head Coach

Coach Zack Whimbush, currently the head track and field coach at Denver South High School, has been a track & field coach for over ten years. Starting as the sprints coach, and eventually the head coach of Northridge High School in Greeley, Colorado. The coach then began the USATF/AAU member Grizzly Track Club in 2009, which produced some the top sprinters, hurdlers, high jumpers, and heptathletes in the state from 2009-2018.  Coach Whimbush also has been a sprints coach at Doherty High School from 2011-14, and the USATF Club, Fast Traxx Troupe of Fountain-Fort Carson from 2012-2015, which also produced some of the top talents in the state. Coach Whimbush has been a teacher for thirteen years and currently finished his Masters in Educational Administration in 2018, and eventually plans to work as a school administrator.

As an athlete in high school, Coach Whimbush participated in track and field, baseball, and football. He went on to Scottsdale Community College on a football scholarship and doubled as track and field athlete participating in sprints, throws, and jumps. Coach Whimbush eventually signed with the University of Northern Colorado on a football scholarship, where he played until 2002.

“Our team culture includes a variety of elements, which includes hard work, value, ethics, expectations, and goals.”

A Special Message to Parents & Guardians

Our track club is perfect for your child whether she/he is already competing or wants to.

Our students range from middle schoolers wanting to prepare for their high school career, to high schoolers that want to make it to the state championships and even compete at the collegiate level.

We are proud to have trained many high school kids that participated in the Colorado state championships and even received athletic college scholarships.

Please understand, though, that while we absolutely focus on performance, we also understand the importance of making track and field an enjoyable experience. Our hope is your kid(s) perform beyond your wildest expectations and love every minute of it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Coach Whimbush at dshstrack@gmail.com.
